2017 SABANGCHIGI 사방치기

Geometric Study is a multidisciplinary art company founded by three siblings: PARK Sung-eun, PARK Kyu-eun, and PARK Jungwoo. Each sibling has a different area of expertise, with PARK Sung-eun specializing in dance and choreography, PARK Kyu-eun in visual art and headpiece design, and PARK Jungwoo in fashion design.

Geometric Study is a creative and innovative company that is dedicated to creating interdisciplinary art that is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant. Their collaborations with other artists and art forms demonstrate their willingness to experiment and take risks in pursuit of their artistic vision.

지오메트릭 스터디는 무용, 미술, 패션, 음악을 전공한 삼남매로 구성된 그룹으로, 무용수와 안무자로 활동하는 박성은, 미술 작가 겸 헤드피스 디자이너 박규은, 패션 디자이너 박정우로 구성되었으며, 다양한 예술 장르와의 협업으로 공연과 댄스 필름을 선보이고 있다. 지오메트릭은 각 예술 장르가 모여 한 작품을 만드는 것에서 나아가 예술가들의 각기 다른 해석을 시작점으로 삼아 장르가 교차되며 이루어지는 시너지 효과를 의도한다. 장르 간 융합을 통해 작품의 폭과 깊이를 확장하여 현대예술은 어렵다는 편견을 깨고 관객에게 다가가는 것을 목표로 작업한다.

사방치기

“그럼에도 불구하고 삶은 하나의 작품이 된다.”

누구나 어릴 적 꿈꾼 삶이 있다. 그러나 살다보면 환경에 의해, 또는 타인에 의해, 때로는 나 자신으로 인해 그 계획이 좌절되기도 하고, 어디로 가야할지 몰라 막막하고 아득할 때도 있다.

그럼에도 불구하고, 인간의 삶은 결국 하나의 작품이 되며, 그 작품들이 모여 다시 커다란 작품을 이룬다. <사방치기>는 다양한 색채와 형태로 재해석된 사방치기와 그 판 위에서 펼쳐지는 한국 전통 놀이를 통해 인간의 삶을 바라본다.

SABANGCHIGI

"However, life becomes a work of art."

Everyone has dreamed of their life when they were young. However, as they live, their plans may be frustrated by their environment, others, or even themselves, and they may feel lost and distant.

Nevertheless, human life eventually becomes a work of art, and these works of art come together to form a larger work. "Sa-bang-chi-gi" looks at human life through the traditional Korean game that unfold on its board in various colors and forms.
